The Liberal Democrats have called for the introduction of a 5p charge on disposable coffee cups to cut usage across the UK. Some 2.5 billion disposable coffee cups are thrown away in the UK every year, and it is estimated that fewer than one in every 400 are being recycled. Food Packaging Association (FPA) Executive Director, Martin Kersh and Samantha Harding, spokesperson for the Break the Bag Habit coalition, discuss the proposed charge.
