Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition which affects up to 1.8 million people in the UK. It causes red, itchy patches of skin to form and can appear anywhere on the body, but is most frequently found on the elbows, knees, scalp and lower back. Holly Dillon has had the condition for 12 years and has started her own awareness campaign called Get Your Skin Out. She decided to start the campaign because she wanted to put it on the health agenda and give those living with it a voice. She spoke to 5 live鈥檚 Sam Walker about the challenges living with the condition: 鈥溾淚t鈥檚 had a huge impact on my life. It鈥檚 a huge challenge, there are mornings when I don鈥檛 get out of bed or I鈥檓 in tears.鈥 Ian, who is a 5 live listener in Aylesbury, also has severe guttate psoriasis and has suffered with it for 16 years. The condition even led to him being discharged from the army: 鈥溾淚t was heart-breaking. I took a huge knock to my self-confidence when I was discharged from the army because of it鈥 he said.
