Newsday

Available for over a year

Groups of climbers have spent the night stranded on a series of cable cars high above the glaciers of Mont Blanc, in the French Alps. Initially 110 people were trapped, but many were rescued by helicopters and abseilers. The operation was suspended as night fell, forcing as many as 33 passengers to spend the night, until efforts resume in the morning. Frédéric was one of those who were rescued and explained his ordeal. (Photo: The cable cars offer tourists a panoramic view of Mont Blanc. Credit: AFP)
