Stephen Mader says he was fired from a West Virginia police department because he "failed to eliminate a threat". He was confronted by an armed man when responding to a domestic call, but decided to assess the situation further before shooting. He believed that Ronald Williams Jnr. was trying to entice the police into shooting - what is often know as a "suicide-by-cop". The Weirton Police Department have highlighted that his termination letter detailed two other complaints which contributed to his dismissal, both of which Mr Mader disputes.
