David Weir row: Just a sport's story

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Disability activist and journalist James Moore says that he's pleased to see people not discussing David Weir's disability when referencing his performances at the Paralympic Games in Rio. Great Britain's Weir said that he feels he has been "stabbed in the back" following an unsuccessful Paralympic Games in Rio. Moore said: "This is a proper sporting story. No-one's talking about how inspirational he is and nobody is talking about his disability. "This Weir story has just slightly shifted the perception, so you have a good old fashioned sporting row and in a strange way that's nice to see." Weir, 37, was unable to complete the marathon in Rio following a crash, days after announcing his retirement from the track. This clip is originally from 5 live Hit List on 18th September 2016
