Nissan has confirmed it will build both the new Qashqai and the X-Trail SUV at its Sunderland plant thanks to government "support and assurances". The announcement follows doubts about Nissan's commitment to the UK following the Brexit referendum. Colin Lawther, Nissan's senior vice president for manufacturing in Europe, told The World At One's Martha Kearney the government had not given the company a special deal.
