Michael Cheika: I needed operation after Folau training clash

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Australia rugby union head coach Michael Cheika has explained how he needed surgery after being injured in training by Israel Folau. Versatile back Folau, who switched codes from league to union in 2012, accidentally injured his boss - who was taken to hospital - after a training ground routine went wrong last month. "I got cleaned up at training. I was trying to take a ball and someone jumped over me. Turned out I did some damage to what I imagine was a pretty dud shoulder already and needed an operation," Cheika told Eleanor Oldroyd on 5 live Sport. "Israel can jump the highest. I think his knees were up my head by the time we got up there. The main thing is that he wasn't injured." This clip is from 5 live Sport on Thursday 3 November 2016.
