Kriss Akabusi: ‘I’m not surprised footballers get injured’

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Former Olympic athlete Kriss Akabusi believes footballers’ schedules are to blame for their injury problems. West Ham fan Akabusi called 606 in response to a previous call, to support the idea of mid-season break. “I’ve seen these players do multiple reps. Michail Antonio at West Ham, he’s up and down that wing doing 150 metre reps, and he does it Wednesday and he does it Saturday. I’m not surprised these guys get injured. “If you asked me, under stressful conditions, to do that sort of repetition then I’m going to get injured. The body is not designed to be 100% week in, week out.” This clip is originally from 鶹 606 with Jason Mohammad and Robbie Savage on Saturday, 5 November 2016
