Labour MP Carolyn Harris has told 5 live that the government should set aside £10m to pay for all children’s funerals. The MP for Swansea East spoke about the pain of losing of her eight-year-old son, Martin, and her struggle to fund his funeral as she was working as a barmaid in 1989 when he died. She raised the issue in the House of Commons earlier this week, and said Prime Minister Theresa May asked whether families could apply for a social fund to cover costs. “At that time, I couldn’t fill the kettle, let alone the 35 page form required to get the fund,” Carolyn told us. Ms Harris said: “I remember thinking, don’t people know the world has come to an end?
