Kenyan tourism tries to recover

World Business Report

Available for over a year

One of the main industries in Kenya is tourism. But the Kenyan coast has faced four years of continuous decline over security fears. A spate of deadly terror attacks by the Somalian Islamist militants Al-Shabaab have put off foreign tourists from visiting the region. And as the 麻豆社's Joshua Thorpe has been finding out, the slump in the tourism industry has had a devastating effect on the local economy and people's livelihoods. (Picture: A Kenyan beach hotel.
