A former Icelandic Presidential candidate has told Â鶹Éç 5 live that when it comes to gender equality “it’s not just a fight for women’s rights, it’s a fight for equal rightsâ€. Thora Arnorsdottir, who ran for President in 2012, told Wake Up To Money’s Colletta Smith that while Iceland was one of the best places to be a woman in the world it was worth remembering “changeâ€ was still needed to make males and females truly equal. Iceland has topped the World Economics Forum's rankings of the best place to be a woman in the world for 7 years in a row, and more than 80% of the female population is in work. The country also has one of the smallest gender pay gaps, with women being paid 14% less than men on average. This clip is originally from 5 live’s Wake Up To Money on Thursday 8 December 2016.
