Camber Sands: 'He was a real-life hero'

Breakfast on 麻豆社 Radio Surrey
Contains some scenes which some viewers may find upsetting.

Available for over a year

A teenager from Surrey has been re-living a day trip to the coast that ended in tragedy. In his first radio, 18 year old Ankush Dupar has paid tribute to his father who died trying to save a stranger from drowning in July. Mohit Dupar was one of seven people who lost their lives at Camber Sands in East Sussex this summer. Ankush believes his dad would be alive today if lifeguards had been present and is calling for the beach to be closed until public safety can be guaranteed. The local authority, Rother District Council, says a three-mile stretch of beach is impossible to keep risk-free but they鈥檒l review all options at the beach for next season.
