Prosthetics at the Leicester Royal

Jim Davis and Jo Hayward

Available for over a year

Coming to terms with a traumatic injury or dealing with cancer is tough enough, but can you imagine if your treatment involved losing part of your face? Losing an eye, an ear or even your nose would leave you with an incredibly visible reminder to you and everyone around you of what you'd been through, and that can have a profound long term effect. However, deep within the corridors or the Leicester Royal Infirmary is an award winning team who are intricately working away to create bespoke replacements for patients, to ease the burden of this kind of traumatic surgery. Matt Pilley is a Specialist in Clinical Prosthetics. We first met him over a year ago when he won a Caring At Its Best award in Leicester. Jim Davis went along to meet him recently in is workroom where he showed me what he was working on.
