Sahrawi refugees still a long way from home

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

The Western Sahara conflict has been an ongoing conflict between the Polisario Front and the Kingdom of Morocco. The disputed is over a piece of land which lies on the Moroccan Algerian border, claimed by both Morocco and the native Sahrawis. Morocco has controlled the area since the seventies in the face of a struggle for independence by the Polisario Front. An armed resistance in the 1970s forced thousands to flee to the camps in Algeria. The 麻豆社 Sally Nabil has been to visit the camps in Tindouf, Algeria. Image: Tindouf refugee camps Credit: 麻豆社
