Why same-day online food shopping is the next big thing

Radio 4 in Four

Available for over a year

Same-day delivery is the big aim for online groceries providers. None of the big four supermarkets is doing it nationally yet, but all of them except for Asda are giving it a try. Morrisons are in partnership with Amazon Fresh, Tesco in London and the South-East, and Sainsbury鈥檚 is trialing same-day delivery from 30 of its stores. With Sainsbury鈥檚, if you live near one of these stores and you order before midday you can get your groceries delivered to the door that same day. Jess Quayle has been looking at the labour-intensive process involved in getting groceries to a customer within a matter of hours. First broadcast You & Yours, 23 January 2017.
