Overcrowded wards mean that hospitals are operating at unsafe levels in England according to analysis by the Âé¶¹Éç. Suresh Pushpananthan is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at The Royal London Hospital in East London. He told The World at One that he routinely has to cancel planned operations, saying the delay for his patients means their condition gets worse and "they can then end up coming in as emergencies" needing urgent treatment.
