The Labour party fought off a challenge from UKIP to retain the seat of Stoke-on-Trent Central in the latest by-election. It was a disappointing result for UKIP who had fielded leader Paul Nuttall as their candidate. Neil Hamilton, leads the UKIP group in the National Assembly in Wales.
