Female traffic lights get the go ahead in Melbourne

Outside Source

Available for over a year

When crossing the road, we all know what to do: look left and right and be sure to wait for the little green man. But why isn't it a green woman? That's what an Australian lobby group, the Committee for Melbourne, are asking. They've rolled out a 12 month traffic light trial, replacing some of the male red and green figures with female ones. The aim is to reduce unconscious gender bias. Lucy Grey spoke to the group's chief executive, Martine Letts. (Photo: female traffic light signals. Credit: Getty Images)
