The Royals boss Jaap Stam says he is happy to get a draw against leaders Newcastle. Stam says that there were lots of good things in the 0-0 draw against the Magpies, but that the only other thing he could have hoped for was "to score one." "We got the opportunities, the only thing was we couldn't score, and that's a pity, but I think the players have done very well." Stam also said that his unorthodox team selection can be explained by a desire to keep everyone fresh during a period of the season where there are lots of fixtures. "Sometimes you make the choice to give certain players a rest because they need to be sharp for the next game, and someone else can step in."
