As many as one in five of the adult UK population will be effected by IBS to some degree, and it can be a difficult condition to manage. Although there are a number of medicines that can help, there鈥檚 no one panacea, and results are often disappointing. This new approach focuses on encouraging healthy eating practises and dietary change involving a group of starches and sugars known as FODMAPS. Alexandra di Mambro is the Consultant Gastroenterologist and Clinical Lead for Nutrition at Gloucestershire Hospital鈥檚 NHS Foundation Trust. She talks to Dr Mark Porter about how IBS affects people and how FODMAPS works. First broadcast on Inside Health, 15 March 2017.
