Senior judge attacks Justice Secretary

Today in Parliament

Available for over a year

The Justice Secretary Liz Truss has been strongly criticised by the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales Lord Thomas for not defending the judges branded "enemies of the people". Lord Thomas told peers that her view of her constitutional role was "completely and utterly wrong" and that Liz Truss had a duty to defend the independence of the judiciary, as Kristiina Cooper reports.
