Row over 'airbrushing' Easter from annual egg hunt events

World Update

Available for over a year

In Britain, the Church of England has criticised the chocolate manufacturer Cadbury, and the conservation charity the National Trust, for dropping the word "Easter" from egg hunts this spring. The Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, said calling the event the Cadbury Egg Hunt was like "spitting on the grave" of the firm's Christian founder, John Cadbury. A descendant of John Cadbury pointed out that "as a Quaker, he didn't celebrate Easter". Cadbury says its packaging and marketing all feature the word "Easter" prominently. Dan Damon asked Arun Arora, communications director at the Church of England, why he was against the way Cadbury had styled its events.
