Aussie Rules the Solomon Islands

Not by the Playbook

Available for over a year

For the first time in 2017 women played professional Australian Rules football - drawing sell-out crowds and impressive TV ratings. However, the success resonated much further than Australian shores. The Solomon Islands, off the north-east coast of Australia, boasts a population of just over half a million, but women's Aussie Rules is on the rise. Australian volunteer Daniel Seehusen is the country’s development officer for the sport and he tells Caroline Barker they are "breaking down stereotypes".
