The man who created a radio station for fishermen

Outlook

Available for over a year

Radio Monsoon is a rather unusual radio station based in the Indian state of Kerala. The station broadcasts weather forecasts during monsoon season to help local fishermen navigate the storms. It's the brainchild of Maxmillan Martin who was born in Kerala, but now works as a researcher at the University of Sussex in England. He was inspired to start the station after the tsunami that hit the country in 2004. (Picture credit: Robert Maidment-Evans.)
