The UK terror threat level has been raised to the highest of "critical" following the Manchester Arena attack. Military personnel are being placed in public locations to support police in protecting the public. Lord Dannatt was Commander in Chief Land Command at the time of the 7/7 bombings in London. He told the World at One that while the presence of troops "might alarm some people", they should be reassured the authorities are taking the threat "really, really seriously".
