Liberal Democrats deny wanting second referendum

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Former Lib Dem business secretary Vince Cable denies wanting a second referendum because his party didn't like the result, saying: "No, that is not the position and that is not the policy. We respect the vote - it's happened." But he went on to explain that the Liberal Democrats wanted a second referendum to be an option, using an analogy about moving house to explain. "We have no idea yet where we're going and it may be that the only house that is available turns out, when it's been surveyed, to be full of structural damage and dry rot and rising damp, and we may decide at that point, that we'd rather be back where we started." This interview forms part of a series with the main political parties. This clip is originally from Stephen Nolan on Saturday 3 June 2017.
