Former chief constable of the British Transport Police, Andy Trotter has said "we need to see an uplift in police resources across the board". Mr Trotter told Martha Kearney "we face an unprecedented challenge and there's got to be an unprecedented response to that". He went on to say "the emergency services have done an outstanding job" but "those officers have been on duty for many many days without a break and it's quite wrong to put them under that sustained pressure".
