Figures showing the general election turnout broken down by age group will be published later in the month but according to politicians and academics, there seems to have been a surge among young voters. Our reporter Chris Vallance met Ruth Wilkinson, the vice-president and president-elect of Kent Union at the University of Kent, who told him how she stepped up the campaign to get young people registered and to the polling booths.
