The case for Biafra, 50 years after the war

Focus on Africa
Contains some violent scenes.

Available for over a year

One of Africa's most deadly wars broke out 50 years ago in Nigeria. More than a million people died during the 3 year conflict for the self declared republic of Biafra - mostly from hunger. When the war ended in 1970, Nigeria adopted a policy of no victors and no vanquished. But the 麻豆社's Tomi Oladipo has been finding out that in the southeast there are renewed calls for a separate Biafran state.
