Max Dutton, Commonwealth War Graves Commission: "The ultimate outcome is stalemate, continues. "There's all these lives involves, but our objectives were to take pressure off our allies. The German's aren't able to launch another attack anywhere else along the Western Front during this time, so to that extent it was a success.
