Can the government stop school holiday hunger?

World at One

Available for over a year

Holiday hunger is a term used to describe the difficulty Britain's poorest parents have in paying for meals outside the school term. The Labour backbench MP Frank Field has campaigned on this issue for years, and wants Parliament to pass a bill to eradicate holiday hunger completely by funding lunch clubs from a sugar tax. He says that this bill has "all party support... but we just need need time to get it through". (Photo: Children eating at a luncheon club Credit: Getty Images)
