An NHS chief executive has called for a new £300m - £400m acute services ward at Epsom, St Helier or Sutton hospital. Daniel Elkeles of Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust has warned of "no hospital services" unless it is built. He tells Â鶹Éç Surrey its existing buildings are not "fit for practice" with no air conditioning and patient beds too close together. He says hospital services are not clinically or financially sustainable and believes the area needs a new acute unit for 50,000 patients.
