Since the 1960s Maplewell Hall in Woodhouse Eaves, has been run as a school for young people with learning disabilities. As well as the day term activities, children can stay overnight, to help them learn how to live independently. But a consultation is underway, which could mean that that residential facility is closed down, saving the council some 293 thousand pounds each year... The move has been met with opposition from parents, who've started a petition to try and save the residential facilities - Jo Hollis has been to meet them:
