In a village in one of the most deprived parts of the Gambia, the North Bank Region, village elders have been talking about the problem of people leaving. Fatou Dabor's son, for instance, seems to have disappeared without a trace. Over 6000 Gambians have arrived on the Italian coast between January and August 2017 despite the country having a new president, Adama Barrow, who's been calling for Gambians abroad to return home and help nation build.
