Kenya's disputed presidential election has plunged the country into crisis and brought the legitimacy of the whole democratic process there into question. On the face of it, Africa is more democratic that it has ever been - with most countries on the continent holding elections - but are the mechanisms of democracy weakening in many places? Owen Bennett Jones asked two Africa experts, George Ayittey and Nic Cheeseman, whether they believe democracy is working for Africa.
