Against a falling trend in the number of people wanting to study languages at University, a British Council study has identified five languages as paramount as Britiain prepares to leave the EU. They are - Spanish, Mandarin, French, Arabic and German. It also says that languages should be prioritised alongside science, maths and technology the so called STEM subjects. But has our focus on STEM damaged language learning?
