Against a falling trend in the number of people wanting to study languages at University, a British Council study has identified five languages as paramount as Britiain prepares to leave the EU. They are - Spanish, Mandarin, French, Arabic and German. It also says that languages should be prioritised alongside science, maths and technology the so called STEM subjects. But has our focus on STEM damaged language learning? Noel speaks to Dr Sharon Jones - Senior Lecturer in Education Studies at Stranmillis college and Bill Connor, Chief Executive of Sentinus, which has championed STEM subjects for many years
