Kurdish refugees in Japan left in limbo

Big Boss Interview

Available for over a year

Strict immigration rules make settling in Japan difficult for ethnic Kurds. There are very few refugees in Japan but a small group of Kurds have settled in the Warabi district on the outskirts of Tokyo. Lured by visa-free travel, hundreds fled here seeking asylum from Turkey in the 1990s. Years later, very few have gained the right to stay. Ivana Davidovic spoke to Vakas Colak who offers immigration advice in Warabi.
