Drug shortage is 'nationwide problem'

PM

Available for over a year

There are concerns that drug companies are manipulating supplies in order to drive up prices, says a report by the Times. At least 100 drugs have been affected by supply problems and when that happens, health officials temporarily approve paying more for the drugs to ensure patients get what they need. Pharmacist Bharat Patel told Radio 4's PM programme "shortages are occurring on a daily basis" and that pharmacists are going out of their way to satisfy prescriptions.
