Until a few years ago Neil was a successful businessman with a comfortable life. His father became ill, and his mother developed dementia, and he decided to move back into the family home. Shortly after, the family business started to suffer, and he hit financial problems. He also became depressed and started drinking heavily. At first he took out a number of legal loans to make ends meet. Then he met an elderly “father figure” in his local bookmakers who turned out to be a ruthless loan shark.
