Betting machines are a 'spectacular failure'

Westminster Hour

Available for over a year

A former Jeremy Corbyn aide, who is now a spokesperson for the Campaign for Fairer Gambling, told the Westminster Hour that fixed-odds betting terminals are a "spectacular failure" of the last Labour government. Matt Zarb-Cousin, who lost around £20,000 gambling on the machines, says he considered taking his own life. He has campaigned for the maximum stake to be reduced from £100 to £2 and said he is hopeful the Government will be "wise enough" to change the regulations.
