Carillion collapse 'was always on the cards'

PM

Available for over a year

The government confirmed it will continue funding public service contracts which had been carried out by the company Carillion before it went into liquidation. The company, had more than four hundred and fifty contracts, which included providing catering and maintenance at schools, hospitals and prisons. Alan White, author of "Shadow State - Inside the Secret Companies That Run Britain" tells Eddie Mair that "the revolving door between Whitehall and the private sector is not policed as effectively as it should be, so you have public servants leaving their jobs to help companies win contracts that really they might not be able to deliver on."
