Over 700 Churches Shut Down in Kigali

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

So you're a Christian and you want to attend a prayer meeting in your local area... If you're living in a Christian dominated country in much of Africa, chances are there will be a house of worship not very far. But in Rwanda, the quality and standards of some of the churches which have proliferated in the capital leave much to be desired. In fact, according to the Capital's local government department, 714 were so sub-standard they have been closed. Bola Mosuro asked Justus Kangwagye of Rwanda's Governance Board, exactly why they were closed? (Image: People praying inside a church in Kigali. Credit: Getty Images)
