What does free-range really mean?

Radio 4 in Four

Available for over a year

In the UK we consume almost 11 billion eggs a year. And according to figures from DEFRA around 50% of those eggs eaten are classified as "free-range". Toby Field talks to Robert Gooch, Chief Executive of the British Free-Range Egg Producers Association and Jo Bailey from the RSPCA at the Pig and Poultry Fair in Warwickshire to find out what exactly constitutes a "free-range" egg. First broadcast on Farming Today, 17 May 2018.
