Not by the Playbook

Available for over a year

Sports betting is worth an estimated $700 billion a year. But where there is gambling in sport, there are criminals attempting to influence the result, or pervert the progress of the competition for financial gain. Former Australian handball player, Catherine Ordway is now an academic and lawyer with Snedden Hall & Gallop. She has a specialist interest in the problems of match fixing. And ahead of the Fifa World Cup in Russia, she is concerned about the impact sports betting is having on the integrity of sport itself. Here she explains how it can begin.
