The official Brexit campaign Vote Leave has been referred to the police after the Electoral Commission said it broke electoral law. The watchdog said it exceeded its £7m spending limit by funnelling £675,315 through pro-Brexit youth group BeLeave. Shahmir Sanni was a Vote Leave volunteer but decided to blow the whistle on his former employer in March when he accused it of breaching spending limits.
