India has published its National Register of Citizens, and around 4 million people living in the north eastern state of Assam aren鈥檛 on it. The state says this is needed in order to root out people who do not have the right to live there, many of whom moved to Assam from Bangladesh. They haven鈥檛 been able to prove that they relocated there prior to Bangladesh's creation in 1971. They are now living in fear of losing their voting, welfare and land rights, and ultimately of being deported. The story has been big news in India, where people have been discussing it on social media alongside the hashtag #NRCAssam. 麻豆社 correspondent Joe Miller tells us more.
