The Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range forms the spine of the Iberian peninsula. The region has seen relatively little human activity, and its cooler and more humid conditions mean that the mountains are an exceptional refuge for biodiversity. Its striking physical features include granite rock fields, glacial lakes and cirques, and expansive forests of Scots pine. This Â鶹Éç recording was captured near Miraflores de la Sierra, and features the activity of bee-eaters, chaffinch song, the bells of nearby goat herds, and the drowsy summer drone of carpenter bees and flies.
