For the past seventy years anti-microbial drugs such as antibiotics have successfully treated patients with infections. But over time, many infectious organisms have adapted to the drugs that kill them,making them less effective. Scientists now say they have developed a new antibiotic that could help in the fight against drug-resistant bacteria. Prof Graham Cooke, Chair of the World Health Organization's Antibiotics Working group spoke to World Update about the problem of antibiotic resistance.
