Isabel Wood, born 2000, is a pianist and composer. In 2018, Isabel was selected from hundreds of entrants as one of the winners in the Senior category of the annual �鶹�� Proms Inspire Competition. Her winning piece, Inhale. Exhale., was performed by members of Aurora Orchestra at at the Proms Inspire Concert at the �鶹��’s Radio Theatre on 22 August 2018. “Inhale. Exhale. was inspired by the theme of breathing and meditation. The audience is encouraged to breathe along with the piece, becoming aware of their own breathing pattern as the players do. The electronics create an atmospheric background that is more prominent in the pauses within the music and adds to the meditative mood. I wanted to explore the peaceful timbres the cello can create, while also being sympathetic to different types of breathing, including snoring, gasping and meditating.”
