Sudanese security forces target doctors

Newsday

Available for over a year

A doctors' association in Sudan says security forces fired tear gas inside a hospital compound as thousands of protestors took to the streets in the north of the capital, Khartoum, calling for President Omar Al-Bashir to step down. The Sudan Doctors Syndicate, which is often critical of the government, has called for the immediate release of at least 12 doctors it says have been arrested during recent raids.
